Meet Our Team
Titan Hill's school counselors

Titan Hill has two school counselors: Megan Petersen (left), who supports 2nd and 3rd grades, and Connie Cook (right), who supports 4th and 5th grades. School counselors design and deliver school-counseling programs that improve life readiness and academic success. They lead, advocate, and collaborate to promote success for every student by connecting the school-counseling program to the school’s academic mission and school-improvement plan.
At Titan Hill, our counselors deliver lessons to whole classes once every six cycle days using a research-based curriculum called Second Step. They also provide focused interpersonal-skill instruction in small groups and collaborate with staff, students, and parents to create individualized support for students as needed. They work to find creative solutions to a variety of problems by connecting families with support services both in school and in the community.
Titan Hill's School Psychologist

Vince Winkler is a graduate of UNL and UNO. He describes himself as a diehard, long-suffering Husker fan and a merciless chess player. This is his sixth year as a school psychologist with Green Hills AEA and his fifth year working at Lewis Central.
As a school psychologist, he works alongside teachers and staff to support students’ learning and development. Most of this role centers on special education support. At times, he provides short-term counseling or informal mentoring when students, teachers, or families reach out. While he does not provide therapy or long-term mental health services, he is happy to help connect families with outside providers if that is something they’re looking for.
Titan Hill's social worker

Mikayla is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) with Heartland Family Service who is passionate about supporting families and children—from early childhood through adolescence. She has experience working with children who face challenges related to emotional regulation, trauma, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem.
Her therapeutic style is person-centered and collaborative, drawing from cognitive behavioral techniques and incorporating mindfulness, play, creative arts, and sand tray therapy to help children express themselves and build resilience.
In her work within the school system, Mikayla prioritizes collaboration with families, teachers, school counselors, and administrators to address concerns holistically. This approach enables her to create consistent support across home and school environments, helping children both emotionally and academically.
