Longtime LCHS teacher and assistant principal will assume the head role.

The following email was sent to LCHS parents on May 16 by Dr. Knost.

Dear LCHS Parents;

As you know, in June, Dr. Beyenhof will be concluding his current principalship as he prepares to move on to his new superintendent role. We certainly wish him nothing but the best, and we thank him for his years of outstanding service to the students and staff of Lewis Central. With that in mind, I am writing to provide you an update on the process to name our next principal. Our application period came to a close last Friday, and we have had ample time to review all applicants. The majority of our candidates who were qualified currently serve as assistant/associate principals. We also had one sitting principal and a few candidates who are currently teachers.

I recently spent some time with high school staff members, and they provided valuable input regarding the needed qualities and characteristics of the next LCHS leader. In addition, I have received emails and communications from other colleagues, parents and community members. All of the input I have received appears to be completely consistent.

After reviewing all the candidates and their qualifications, and after considering all the input I have received, I really only believe there to be one logical answer regarding our next LCHS principal.

Considering this late date in the school year, along with all the factors mentioned above, I did not feel a lengthy panel interview process was necessary for this decision. Even with a process, I am completely convinced the outcome would be the same. Therefore, this evening I recommended Mr. Joe Vinchattle to the Board of Education as the next head principal for LCHS. The Board unanimously approved this recommendation.

Mr. Vinchattle has been with LC for many years, and he is poised and ready to take the helm at LCHS. He is highly thought of by his peers and the LC Community. He is a knowledgeable hard worker, a strong instructional leader and his humanistic qualities are those of a true servant leader. Unquestionably, Mr. Vinchattle will be an amazing leader who continues to inspire excellence for our high school and the entire Lewis Central Community School District.

Please join me in congratulating Mr. Joe Vinchattle as our next LCHS Principal. Sincerely, DK
