During the recent Lewis Central School Board meeting, held on May 19, 2025, the board conducted important discussions and made key decisions to support the district’s ongoing growth and improvement. Below is a detailed summary to keep our community informed.

Public Hearing:
The board held a public hearing on the Titan Hill HVAC project from 6:31 to 6:39 p.m.

Consent Agenda Highlights:
The board approved the consent agenda, which included:

Minutes from the May 5 board meeting
Financial reports and bills for payment
Personnel updates such as new hires, resignations, and staff changes, including summer school staff and extracurricular accompanists
Approval of miscellaneous contracts, grants, gifts, and fundraisers

Discussion & Approvals:

Elementary Flooring Replacement
A proposal to replace carpet in four classrooms each at Titan Hill and Kreft, plus tile in the Kreft kitchen, was presented. The total cost is $29,393.46.

Iowa Western Community College MOU
The board reviewed and approved a memorandum of understanding to provide educational services for the 2025-26 school year.

General Obligation School Bonds, Series 2025
Several resolutions and certificates related to the issuance of $20,500,000 in school bonds were presented and unanimously approved. These included appointing paying agents, approving tax exemption certificates, and amending bond resolutions.

High School Roof Replacement Addition
A change order was approved to add an additional section to the high school roof replacement project planned for summer 2025. The cost from Blackhawk Roofing is $79,200.

High School Math Curriculum
The board approved the purchase of new high school math curriculum materials from Savvas Learning Company for $51,002.40.
