Dr. Hoesing will begin July 1.
COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA — The Lewis Central Community Schools Board of Education has named Dr. Brent Hoesing as the district’s next superintendent.
Dr. Hoesing is the current superintendent of the Missouri Valley Community Schools, where he has focused on sound financial management, curriculum and instructional practices, facility and technology upkeep, and communication and community involvement in the schools.
He is also known as the “Singing Superintendent” due to his creative announcements of snow days, writing his own lyrics to popular songs to share the news with students and families. Some of his videos have gone viral and gained national attention.
“After a thorough search and a review of numerous highly qualified and impressive candidates, we are thrilled to announce that Dr. Brent Hoesing will serve as the next superintendent of the Lewis Central Community Schools,” said Dorene Scheffel, Board President. “Over the course of his career, Dr. Hoesing has demonstrated an incredible commitment to student learning and community engagement, while being approachable and collaborative in his leadership. We look forward to seeing the impact he will have on our district moving forward.”
In Missouri Valley Community Schools, Dr. Hoesing earned a reputation for his focus on community engagement, working with staff, families, students, and community members to form advisory committees that seek to enhance educational opportunities for learners. He also facilitated the implementation of one-to-one technology and led the planning and implementation of District-Wide Assessment Initiatives.
Dr. Hoesing previously served as a middle school principal, associate principal, and business and technology teacher in Missouri Valley. He holds a doctorate degree in education from the University of South Dakota and a master’s degree in education from Wayne State College.
The Lewis Central Board of Education has been working with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search for the next superintendent. The process has included a community-wide survey, asking district residents to provide their input on the qualities and characteristics they would like to see in the district’s next leader. The board conducted a first round of interviews on January 10. Final interviews took place January 24. Final approval will take place during the next board meeting on February 7.
Dr. Hoesing will begin serving the Lewis Central Community Schools as superintendent effective July 1, 2022.
