Hands-On Career Learning: LCHS Visits Miller Electric

Posted December 17, 2025

Lewis Central High School students recently had the opportunity to step outside the classroom and into the field during a visit to Miller Electric. The experience gave students a firsthand look at what it’s like to work as an electrician and explore a potential career in the skilled trades.

A group of seven high school students looking at various types of pipe used by electricians at Miller Electric.

During the visit, students toured the Miller Electric facility and learned about the day-to-day responsibilities of electricians. They also had the chance to get hands-on experience by using tools to bend pipe, giving them a better understanding of the skills and precision required in the trade. In addition, Miller Electric staff shared valuable information about the educational and training requirements needed to become a licensed electrician, helping students understand the pathway from high school to a rewarding career.

We are grateful to Miller Electric for welcoming our students and providing such an engaging and informative learning experience. Opportunities like this help our students explore career options, build real-world skills, and make informed decisions about their futures.
