From the Lab to the Bee: Our Students Explore the Wonders of the Brain at Creighton
Posted February 9, 2026

Last week, a group of our high school students attended Creighton Brain Day and had an absolute blast exploring neuroscience with the university’s Neuroscience Department. The day was packed with hands-on learning, friendly competition, and eye-opening experiences that sparked curiosity and inspired future scientists.
What Students Did
- Toured Creighton’s neuroscience facilities and met faculty and researchers
- Competed in the Regional Brain Bee competition
- Completed several hands-on labs, including:
- Dissecting human and sheep brains
- Preparing and creating mouse brain stain slides
- Performing motor reflex tests
- Practicing basic suturing techniques
The trip gave students a rare, hands-on glimpse into real neuroscience work and clinical skills. Many returned excited about careers in medicine and research.
A big thank-you to Creighton’s Neuroscience Department for hosting us and to the students for representing our school so enthusiastically.
