Call to Order: Board President Dorene Scheffel called the regular meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. At roll call, the following board members responded as present: Ms. Adkins, Mr. Hendrix, Mr. Houseton, Mrs. McDaniel, Mr. Stoufer, Mr. Weilage, and Mrs. Scheffel.

Consent Agenda: Mr. Hendrix moved, seconded by Mr. Stoufer, that the consent agenda be approved as presented.
Discussion: The Consent Agenda included approval of minutes – March 22, 2021 regular meeting. Personnel – Administrative Recommendations: Licensed – Approval to Employ – Linda Huber, HS Math Teacher; Classified – Approval to Employ – Jeffrey Lay-Harker, IT Technician. Licensed – Resignations/Terminations – Brittany Vinchattle, HS LA CTG Teacher. Classified Staff Changes – Promotions – Karen Dunlop, KR Paraeducator (PTPY) to KR Attendance Clerk (FTPY). Miscellaneous Contracts. Carried: 7-0

7.01 2020-2021 Calendar Updates
Dr. Knost presented an updated 2020-2021 calendar with the last student day of June 8th and the last contracted teacher work day of June 9th.

7.02 403 Series Policy Reviews, Updates and Alignments, Second Read
Dr. Knost presented Policies 403, 405, 410, 411 and 413 series updates on second read.

7.03 404, 405 and 406 Series Policy Reviews, Updates and Alignments, First Read
Dr. Knost presented Policies 404, 405, and 406 series updates on second read.

7.04 Sanitation Lift Station Generator Purchase
Randy Portrey presented 3 bids for the sanitation lift station generator purchase. The sanitation lift station at the middle school is powered electrically. When we have power outages, it is imperative that we monitor the lift station, and we often have to call in an outside contractor for manual operation of the station.
 
7.05 Multiple Late Filed Open Enrollment Requests (2) (Closed Session)
Closed Session per Iowa Code 21.5 (1) (a), closed session is appropriate to review or discuss records which are required or authorized by state or federal law to be kept confidential or to be kept confidential as a condition for that governmental body’s possession or continued receipt of federal funds.

Motion by Mr. Hendrix to approve Power Tech for the purchase and installation of an emergency generator for our
Middle School Sanitary Lift Station at the amount of $29,500.

7.06 Superintendent’s Evaluation (Closed Session)
Closed session is recommended to discuss the superintendent’s review. Per Iowa Code 21.5 (1) (i), closed session is appropriate to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and when that individual requests a closed session.
