Free and Reduced Priced Meals

Free and Reduced Priced Meals
Lewis Central Community Schools is now offering an electronic application for free and reduced priced meals.
The application process is fast, easy, and convenient.  Our interactive step-by-step instructions will help guide you through the process.
To get started, simply click this link, Free and Reduced Priced Meal Application and follow the online instructions.
Once the application is completed and submitted, it will be reviewed only by authorized Lewis Central personnel.  Then, you will be notified by mail of your family’s meal status.
Please refer any questions to or call 712-366-8267.

If you receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, all of your children who attend school automatically qualify for free school meals. Participation in other federal assistance programs, including Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) also provides automatic qualification. Please contact the Nutrition Services office at 712-366-8267, from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, to determine if you need to fill out an application.
All families interested in receiving free and reduced priced meals must complete a new application at the beginning of each school year.  If your children received free and reduced priced meals during the previous school year, their eligibility will carry-over into the current school year until October 7th, 2020.  Those families who did not automatically qualify and did not complete a new application for the current school year, will be full price status effective October 8th, 2020.
Students who qualify for free and reduced priced meals may take one complete breakfast and one complete lunch per day.  Please note, all extra servings and A la carte items are full priced.
Once a year, the school district will randomly select families who receive free and reduced priced meals to provide verification of their income.
