Kindergarten Reading
Standard 1: Students apply a variety of reading strategies for word analysis and vocabulary development in narrative and informational text.
K.1.1 Recognize that letters have associated sounds and know how pronounce and blend sounds to produce words.
- Recognize 26 uppercase and 26 lowercase letters.
- Recognize consonant sounds (including hard "c" and "g").
- Produce rhyming words.
- Produce compound words.
- Isolate consonant sounds in single-syllable words.
- Blend onsets and rimes to make words.
