Superintendent's December 2009 Update
by Mark Schweer
December 01, 2009
Holiday Greetings! It seems as though we begin the Christmas
Holiday festivities earlier and earlier each year. So having just
mentioned that, I want to remind you that the Christmas break this
year will begin on Wednesday, December 23. School will resume on
Monday, January 4.
I would encourage you to attend the Middle School and High School
band and vocal concerts that will be held this month. These
concerts will assuredly put you in a festive mood.
On December 10, the Pottawattamie County Public Health Department
will be holding a H1N1 clinic for High School students here at
Lewis Central High School. There will not be a cost. If you would
like your student to receive the vaccine, you will need to complete
a consent form and return it to the school health office by Monday,
December 7. The consent form may be down loaded by clicking
this link.. If you have any questions, please call the
school health office at 366-8272.
The Board of Education has approved entering into a contract with
Strategic Resources West, Inc. for the purpose of gathering future
enrollment projections. This firm will also help us determine the
efficiency of how we are using classroom space in our buildings. We
believe that we will have a shortage of classroom space in the near
future because of increasing enrollment. Therefore, we need
professional advice on gathering accurate enrollment projections so
that we can plan accordingly. The one-cent sales tax revenue
received by schools can be used to pay for professional fees and
services.
