Superintendent's November 2008 Update

by Mark Schweer

November 04, 2008

The Revenue Purpose Statement Special Election will be held on December 9th.  Only Lewis Central residents are eligible to vote.  The normal school board election polling sites will be in place.  You may also vote by absentee ballot.  You need to contact the Auditor's Office and request to do so.  Absentee ballots need to be returned no later than December 5 in order to be counted.  You may also vote at the Courthouse (2nd floor) on December 8 from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.   You can find the fact sheet on the website that provides pertinent information regarding this issue.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any Lewis Central School Board Member.

The district's enrollment continues to increase.  All school districts in the state take a "certified enrollment count" on October 1.  Our certified enrollment increased by 24 students from 2,559 a year ago to 2,583 this year.  “Certified enrollment” is resident students only.  This year we have an additional 508 open enrolled in students.  We have an open enrollment net gain of 391 students.  Our total enrollment increased by 85 students from 2,909 to 2,994.
