We would like to welcome five new teachers to Lewis Central High School this year.

Our new 10th-grade English and reading teacher is Kristine Rutledge.  Kristine has ten years of experience in education.  For the past nine years, she taught high school reading, 10th- and 12th-grade English at Boystown.  Kristine enjoys sports, watching Husker football, quilting, traveling and her pets.  An interesting fact about Kristine is that she is also an LC alumnus, having attended K-8 here.

Jess Bond will start his teaching career at Lewis Central by teaching physical education (team activities) at the High School, 6th grade health at the Middle School and acting as assistant varsity football coach and assistant varsity basketball coach.  Jess’s hometown is Clarinda, Iowa and he earned his teaching degree at Iowa State University.  Jess was recently married last summer.  His special interests include coaching, playing basketball and watching movies. “Lewis Central is a very nice school district that appears to have a lot of community support.” Jess commented.

Gina Pearson will be teaching special education math.  Gina lives in Underwood, Iowa with her three children and husband who is the Underwood High School principal.  Originally from Denver, Colorado, Gina earned her B.S. from Creighton University, M.A. in Special Education from UNO and Master’s Endorsement in Secondary Educational Administration from UNO. Gina’s previous teaching experience includes 13 years at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs.  Gina’s special interests include scuba diving, traveling (she has been to 14 countries) and riding horses.  “I’m very excited to be at Lewis Central High School and am looking forward to a fantastic career in the Lewis Central Community School District.”

Jennifer Williams comes to us from the St. Louis area where she taught English Language Learners in the St. Louis Public School District and the Parkway School District.  Jennifer is originally from Minnesota where she began her career teaching ELL in Saint James, Minnesota.  She is married and has a dog.  In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors camping, biking and hiking with her husband.

Ryan Pivonka is the Co-Director of Choral Activities at Lewis Central High School.  Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Nebraska, Omaha and is currently working towards his Master’s Degree in educational administration. This is Ryan’s seventh year of teaching; he taught previously at Ralston High School.  Ryan’s special interests include weight training and acting in local community theatre.
