LEWIS CENTRAL FOOD SERVICE POLICY
We sell meals (breakfast and lunch), ala carte meal items, snacks and milk for cash at the point of sale, or to prepaid family accounts. We do not sell meals on credit – except as noted in the next bullet point.
If a family account goes below zero, students will no longer be allowed to purchase ala carte food or snacks. Students will be allowed to purchase meals until their balance reaches negative $15.00. This amount will enable a student to buy as many as six meals while parents attend to the account.
If a family reaches a balance ofnegative $15.00, the district reserves the right to no longer make any food sales to the student until the account is paid and brought to a current status. As a courtesy, a peanut butter sandwich may be provided, on a limited basis, however, no beverages or other items will be offered.
No collection efforts will be made at the point of sale by food staff; however food staff will be instructed not to make sales to accounts with negative balances. It’s a parent’s responsibility to keep accounts current.
