Principal's News - by Barbara Grell
The staff and I want to welcome the Kreft students and families to the start of a new school year. My name is Barbara Grell. I am happy to be your child's principal. This will be my seventeenth year with the Lewis Central School District and my seventh as an elementary principal.
Thanks to all families who were able to attend the Drop-Off Supply Night on Monday. Hopefully you were able to tour the school and spend some time in your child's classroom.
We are excited that the majority of the first phase of the Kreft renovation is nearly complete. There are a few minor items to complete before moving on to Phase II in September. We will use the portable classrooms this school year for the related arts classes. Students will have art, music, and library in the portables.
You should have received before school drop off and after school pick up procedures at registration and again on Monday night in your child's classroom. Please make sure and follow these guidelines for a safe operation.
Communication is important to the Kreft staff. A family letter will be sent home twice a month to keep you informed of school events. These newsletters will also be put on the Lewis Central website. The address for the LC website is www.lewiscentral.org On opposite weeks, teachers will send home classroom newsletters.
Our goal at Kreft Primary is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where students accelerate in their learning and feel respected. We will keep parents/guardians informed about how your child is doing with academics, and social and emotional development.
The first couple weeks of school your child will most likely tell you they have worked on learning school and classroom procedures. It is important to us that children know what is expected of them and that they can follow rules. This makes for a great learning environment.
