LETTERING REQUIREMENTS
A student may earn a varsity letter for participating in large group and/or individual speech. Points are calculated by the coach(es) according to the scale below and determined by the level to which a student advances. Decisions on points are the coach's discretion. The student must earn 10 points to letter in speech. If a student does not letter, the points will carry over to the next year. A student will earn points at the highest level achieved (i.e. if a student performs at state but not at All-State he/she would get between three and six points depending on the student's attendance to rehearsal, effort, behavior and performance.

10 hours of work = 1 point
Students are responsible for keeping track of hours worked and must
submit these by the second week of April. Students should label the
type of work performed and approximate time spent to the quarter
hour--15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
Example of points:
Student A participates in Ensemble Acting which gets a I at State(5
points) and Spontaneous Speaking which gets a II at State(5
points)--total points = 10.
Letters will be awarded at the Speech Awards Banquet usually held early to mid-May.
