LC for Education Golf Classic

Where were you on June 27 at high noon? You missed out if you were not at Fox Run Golf Course for the Lewis Central Foundation’s LC for Education Golf Classic! The afternoon started sunny and hot – perfect for golf, cart driving and reminding your foursome whose drive went the farthest back on the last hole, and it DOES get farther each time you remind them.
Check-in was at noon, followed by a grab-n-go lunch complete with a complimentary beverage koozie, calculator for ease of tallying those strokes and blue & white golf tees to start the balls flying! Mr. Corey Loose, Fox Run golf pro, set us up in a reverse shotgun start with prizes up for grabs at various holes.
By four-thirty the golfers were beginning to drift to the clubhouse and not too soon either with clouds building up threatening to shower on any golfers lagging behind.
As the last golfers returned, mother nature held nothing back. We were in the midst of awarding prizes when the wind and rain threatened to literally ‘bring down the house’. Branches snapped, trees were uprooted, low areas were overflowing with water, power went out, but we were safe. What an exciting end to our day and one we won’t forget soon.
The LC Foundation would like to take time to extend our appreciation to all the golfers, Fox Run, Corey Loose, Lori Dreager, Glenda Doupe, Dee Humphrey, and many others that helped in the organizing and coordination of the event that day. Please circle the month of June 2009 NOW for next year’s LC for Education Golf Classic. The new school year 2008-2009 looks to be another exciting challenge for the LC Foundation to bring more awareness to the Lewis Central community and alumni the various needs of the Lewis Central schools and the graduating senior class 2009. The Foundation strives to enhance the experiences in our classrooms and the future of LC graduates. Much of the fundraising efforts the Foundation endeavors go towards these two worthy causes within our community.
