May 08, 2008

On Thursday, May 1, 2008, seven Lewis Central High School students competed in the first annual Job Olympics, held at Iowa School for the Deaf.  The competition included students from Lewis Central Middle School, Iowa School for the Deaf Middle School, and Iowa School for the Deaf High School.  The competition began at 8:30 and finished at 11:15.  Lewis Central High School students competed in various, simulated job tasks:Sorting and folding laundry, stocking grocery shelves and sacking groceries, sorting coins and adding money combinations, and filing by color and names.

"It was cool seeing the other students compete," commented sophomore Richie Fish, "but even cooler placing in some of the events!"  "My favorite part was getting my ribbon for first place," said freshman Dillon Sterba.  The general consensus was that all participants had a good time and look forward to the competition next year.
