Help Earn Money for Students!

My School's Cool Program at Mall of the Bluffs

by Donna Bush

October 18, 2007

Lewis Central High School is participating in the “My School’s Cool” program at the Mall of the Bluffs.  This program offers a number of outstanding opportunities for our school.  Lewis Central High School can win cash awards and valuable prizes from local sponsors,  boost school spirit by getting students, parents, and faculty to rally around a common cause and forge valuable relationships with our mall and other local businesses.

Here is how it works:

  1. Save your receipts from Mall of the Bluffs merchants and Hy-Vee.  No other outside business receipts will be accepted.
  2. Before turning in receipts circle the store name, the date on the receipt and the total purchase before taxes.  If this is not done prior to turning in to Charlotte in the high school principal’s office or Guest Services, it will be returned to you.
  3. There are two locations to drop off your receipts:
    1. To Charlotte in the high school principal’s office
    2. Mall of the Bluffs Guest Services

(You can turn in the original receipts or  someone at either location will photocopy the receipt and give you back the original.  If you are concerned about private information, i.e. credit card numbers, it can be crossed out with a permanent marker)

  1. Merchants of Mall of the Bluffs are not allowed to turn in customer receipts for school points.  If merchants are caught saving customers' receipts and turning them in for school points, the school that they are turning points in for will be disqualified for the remaining school year.
  2. For all events, volunteering or activities that a student participates in, the Mall’s marketing manager must be informed at least 2 weeks prior to the event and the student must fill out a waiver release form to obtain points.
  3. Promote honesty and integrity.  Because My School’s Cool is based on a system where parents, teachers, students and shoppers will earn points for their school, it is imperative that each school convey the importance of honesty.  There will be opportunities throughout this program where individuals could earn points in a dishonest manner.  We are counting on you to set an example for students and encourage everyone to simply be honest.

Ways to Earn Points

Mall Sales Receipts   Each dollar spent at the mall earns our school one point.  Receipts will be rounded to the next dollar at 51 cents.  There will opportunities to earn double points which will include double point retailers and double point shopping days.

Participation in Mall Events and Activities   Schools which patronize the mall on certain event days can earn points.  Event Participation = 100 points for each person registering for their school.

Schools will also have opportunity to earn points by volunteering to assist the mall in various activities throughout the program.  For example, a school can volunteer to pass out programs at a holiday event. Volunteer points = 250 points per volunteer per hour worked

Participation in Mall Goodwill   This is designed to help students be more community-minded.  Mall Goodwill is limited to Mall of the Bluffs Marketing Goodwill Programs which include Habitat for Humanity and Salvation Army’s Angel Tree (more may be added in the future).  Volunteer Points = 300 points per volunteer per hour worked
