Meeting called to order at 6:34. Welcome by President Martha Jonhston-Mundt.
Secretary's Report: A motion to approve the minutes from February meeting was made by Tracy Bruun. Second by Ann Morgan. Motion carried. A note was received by the Titan Hill teachers thanking the PTA for all we do and for the food.
Treasurer's Report: Gift Certificates from last December for the Book Fair were at $180.00. Art Fundraiser has taken in $4500 but Lorna was only half way through the orders. As of Tuesday the Book Fair at Kreft had taken in $2100 and the Scrip Program has sold just a little under $2000 worth of Scrip cards. There was a motion made by Jenny Smith to accept the treasurer's report and seconded by Kelly.
Art Fundraiser: Alice Washburn reported that the fundraiser has taken in over $8000 worth of orders. The PTA receives on the average of 30% profit from that. There will be a pick up night scheduled for orders to be picked up. Volunteers are needed.
Scrip Program: The Scrip program is in its third week and has had close to $2000 worth of orders from only less then 20 orders placed. Out of the $2000, the PTA has received just under $70. A few questions came up concerning the program:
Is there any other way the cards can be distributed to the parents? Right now it is not feasible to send the cards via USPS. Unless the parent adds shipping in with their order and that is being looked into right now. Is this program going to be year round? Yes - the plan is that the orders will be placed year round. Processes are being discussed on how to receive and deliver orders. If anyone has any questions concerning this program, please contact Angie Stoufer at lcptascrip@yahoo.com.
Fall Fundraiser: Lorna Woods and committee are in the process of interviewing new companies for next year. They have narrowed it down to four companies. These companies will be back next week for another interview and then the committee will pick one to use for next year.
Family Night: Family Night will be held at Kreft on March 16th. As of tonight, 900 people have RSVP.
Bylaws: The Bylaws Committee met to discuss adding in Preschool as a part of the PTA. They are revising the bylaws according to state guidelines. Once revised the bylaws will be sent out to each member by the end of March. A vote to accept the new bylaws will take place at the April PTA meeting.
Next Years Budget: The new budget will be set up by mid-April. A committee is forming to review the budget. If you would like to be on this committee please sign up. The first meeting will be held on March 28th, the place is still yet to be determined.
Principal Report: Mrs. Grell just wanted to thank everyone for all of their help and all that they do. It is much appreciated.
New Business
PTA Academy: The state PTA president and past president came to discuss a wide range of things regarding a PTA. Some things learned was it helped to see the big picture of what the state PTA is about. Also gave good information on how to better your PTA.
Speaker: Amy Cook will be speaking at the next PTA meeting about health related issues.
Volunteers needed: Volunteers are needed for goodies for conference night, which is held on April 6th.
Supply boxes: Lorna met with principals to discuss any changes to the supply boxes for the schools.
Box Tops: Box tops are accepted year round. The profit so far for this year for box tops is just over $2000. Some ideas were discussed on how to generate more box tops. For example: having drop-off boxes at football games or basketball games.
Nominating Committee: A committee is needed to call nominees for the 2006-2007 positions available. This committee will call the nominees and talk about what the position entails and ask whether they would like to accept the position. If not - then they will discuss with the candidate about being on a certain committee. Volunteers are needed for the Nominating Committee.
Motion to adjourn was made by Carla Foster and second by Ann Morgan.
Minutes submitted by Angie Stoufer, substituting for Penny Rollins, PTA Secretary.
