Spencer and Duncan
We are excited to announce that Lewis Central High School has two seniors that have been selected as National Merit Scholar Finalists, Spencer Cooper-Ohms and Duncan Law.  This is very exciting news for these students, their families and our school community.

From the National Merit Scholarship Corporation website: "1.6 million entrants, some 50,000 with qualify for recognition"; Commendable = 34000 out of the 5000; Semifinalist = 16000 out of the 50000; and Finalists = 15000 (less than 1 percent of entrants).

From Dr. Beyenhof:
We are very proud of both Duncan and Spencer for the excellence they have achieved academically and even prouder in the manner in which they achieved this highly coveted award.  Both of these students are models for not only taking academically challenging courses that required them to leverage their strong intellect and work ethic, but were also very active in school activities.  This involvement and their courses have required them to leverage an extremely strong work ethic and drive for success.  They have truly inspired excellence for our students.

In the 58 year history of Lewis Central, we have had 28 Finalists. Of those, seven have been in the last twenty years. Of those seven, four have been in the last five years.

Congratulations to Spencer and Duncan on this outstanding recognition!
