Amie Studer and Ron Stazzoni were re-elected to the Lewis Central School Board.  Tracy Bruun was elected to the Director District #3 position formerly held by Dan Feller.  Dan opted not to run after serving 6 years on the Board.  All three ran unopposed.  Tracy and her husband, Tom, moved to the district in 2002.  Their son, Derek, is a sophomore at LCHS and their daughter, Shelby, an 8th grader is at the LCMS.  Tracy has been active in the district since their kids started at Lewis Central in 2003.  She has an Associate’s Degree in Agri-Business and Farm Management as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in General Business.  She has worked for the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Division of Soil Conversation for 14 years.  In an interview with the Nonpareil, she stated that, “the success of our students is really based on the strength of the partnership between home, the student and school, and that the adults at home must instill in students the importance of their education and that their education is the number one priority, the building blocks for their success down the road; school provides the opportunity and environment to learn, it is up to the student to use all the resources available at home and school to achieve the most they can from this opportunity”.

Several years ago the Iowa Legislature changed the length of the term from three (3) to four (4) years.  At the organizational meeting on September 19, Dorene Scheffel was elected President and Daryl Weilage was elected Vice President. Board meeting agendas and minutes are posted on the district website.

On October 10th, the Council Bluffs NP Dodge Realtors will be visiting Titan Hill Intermediate School.  Last year, these same folks visited our high school.  We are proud of our schools and our buildings and we look forward to their visit.

We hope to approve the bid for the Central Gym Renovation Project at one of our October board meetings.  This project is scheduled to be completed by the time school starts next fall.
