Food Service
The Lewis Central Community Schools Food Service Program offers breakfast and lunch every day with a focus on lots of choices and good nutrition. All of our meals meet USDA requirements for the National School Lunch Program. We, as a district, understand the importance of having healthy balanced meals available for our students. We, along with our building principals, teachers and school nurses, are working with the USDA and the State of Iowa to educate our students on the importance of healthier choices regarding diet and exercise.

The School Food Service program is a PRE-PAY system. You must have a positive account balance to make purchases. The vast majority of our parents understand this and go to great lengths to keep their accounts at a positive balance. We strive to assist parents with their efforts by providing low balance notices via e-mail or statements sent home with students. You can monitor your account online at any time on our school website, lewiscentral.org.

We understand accounts being low and occasionally hitting a negative balance, but we are unable to continue to finance chronic negative accounts. We can work with emergency situations if you call to make arrangements in a timely manner. If a family account has a negative balance your account will be inactivated and your student will not be able to make any purchases.

We encourage all families to sign up for statements via e-mail. We also encourage parents to keep phone numbers and addresses current with the district so we can communicate with you regarding your account.
