National Honor Society Holds Blood Drive

In conjunction with the American Red Cross, Lewis Central High School National Honor Society held the spring blood drive on Friday, March 20th. At the end of the day, the Red Cross gained 93 units of blood. These units will be used to treat a variety of conditions such as physical traumas, anemia, and cancer.   READ MORE...

LC Yearbook Wins Award of Distinguished Merit

Megan Brayman and Jordan Koehler knew they were going to edit their senior yearbook when they were only freshmen. In their third trimester, they were named co-editors for photography for the yearbook, and they stuck with Lewis Central High School’s journalism program throughout their high school careers, culminating in being co-editors for the co-curricular activity last year. Their yearbook, “Our Journey,” recently won an Award of Distinguished Merit in the Iowa High School Press Association’s Whole Yearbook Fall Contest. The staff award recognizes achieving overall excellence in various sections and types of designs in the final product.  READ MORE...

On February 22 -24, twelve LCHS Business Professionals of America (BPA) students attended the BPA State Competition in Des Moines, Iowa. Chris Thomas learned an important lesson after his sophomore year on Lewis Central High School’s football team: grades matter. Going into the summer, he failed two classes in one trimester, which put his eligibility for the fall into jeopardy. He had to act, or he wouldn’t be allowed to play football anymore.  READ MORE...

Forty-six seniors took the National Assessment of Educational Progress on Thursday, according to counselor Jackie Bode-Steinke. LCHS Band Program Breaks Record!

This year, the LCHS Bands broke a school record for the number of students who qualified for the Iowa All State Band and Orchestra. The record of five students, held since 1991, was surpassed by the following six students; Hayley Dunlop, Delayne Andrews, Katie Moore, Zach Schaben, Tanner Hawkinson and William White. Hayley, Delayne are 2nd-year All State participants, William is a 3rd-year All Stater, and Zach, Tanner and Katie have qualified for the first time.  READ MORE...
