Nerd Herd Takes Top Honors
(Posted on 2013/05/08)
A girls’ Middle School Lego League team, known as the “Nerd Herd,” created an invention for this year’s Lego League tournament. Their invention was called “The Walk n’ Wheel.” It was designed by the team to help the elderly and the disabled gain more independence. In the past, people with partial mobility would have to rely on multiple pieces of equipment, such as a walker and a wheelchair. Because they would be unable to use one and carry the other, they would have to depend on others to assist them.
Lewis Central is having a Special Olympic track and field day for our student athletes on May 16th. Since the district track and field event was canceled, due to weather, we felt that the athletes should have the opportunity to compete in the events that they have prepared so hard for.
